Scott and Wes on annoying computerized 'help'

EPFTSW: and Windows' idea of helping users is cumbersome and intrusive
Steely Wes: Like that stupid "Do you want to update your software now?" thing that pops up every six seconds in XP.
EPFTSW: and the million other things
Steely Wes: Or, GAAAAAAAAARGHHHH, Mr. Clippy!
EPFTSW: YES
EPFTSW: HATE HIM
EPFTSW: I wish brutal castration upon him
EPFTSW: castration with a rusty hacksaw
Steely Wes: I KNOW!
Steely Wes: Castration with a rusty fork!
Steely Wes: And a poorly maintained and under-oiled jigsaw!

yeah, I hate all their cartoon characters, especially that little dog in the Find program. I think the later versions of Windows let you turn him off.

If you think this is bad, though, think about what it would be like to use Microsoft Bob...

(P.S. This amusing little article on Bob identifies that annoying dog as "Rover from Redmond." :: adds to kill list ::)

Why would anyone take the advice of a piece of coiled metal anyhow? I'd much rather obey that annoying-ass dog - at least it's semi-sentient.
