The Maelstrom Of Indifference: Oscars Edition

Let's be honest--if you read my blog, it's in those last five minutes of self-deception before you admit you just want to look at pornography. Therefore, I am going to fill it up with some crap about the Academy Awards tonight.

March of the Penguins wins in the feature-length documentary category. Thanks, Academy, for encouraging this new idea about what a documentary should do--that is, amuse children, fill people's heads with anthropomorphic horseshit, and exploit the cuteness of a subject while blowing an extraordinary opportunity to explore it. And thank you twice, Oscar voters, for encouraging French people to parade up to the stage bearing stuffed penguins. Meanwhile, four documentaries that tackle less savory subjects and could benefit from the publicity get screwed.
